Residents Engage in Trail Ridge Construction
From the first shovel in the ground, Bob and Marva Parsons have had a bird's eye view of the redevelopment process at Trail Ridge Senior Living in Sioux Falls, S.D. Their apartment home is located directly across from the first construction site for the $11 million redevelopment project on the northeast side of the 18-acre campus.
Since the project began in early November, the Parsons watched as the 17-year-old solarium, which connects the Cottage (assisted living) to the Towers (apartment homes), was transformed into the temporary main entry for the entire Trail Ridge campus.
"The construction project has certainly engaged our senses...many days we could see, hear and feel the progress at the new entry!" Bob says.
Since the new northeast entry has been completed, the C.D. Smith Construction crew has begun work on the south side of the campus. Plans include a wellness center, swimming pool, kitchen, one-story assisted living center and eventually a memory care building that will serve 22 residents.
The project to date includes tearing down garages, excavating the driveways and parking lots, removing trees, and eliminating porticos. Four-year resident Albert Lomheim, an avid photographer, has documented the redevelopment progress so far and is happy to report that the project is on schedule.
